Jon Swanson Bio

Jon has been at music for a long time. Born in New York City, the son of a musician, he put his first band together at age 12. Jon's first intrument was guitar, later moving on to bass, then to keyboards. In 2000, he had his first paid gig as a drummer.

Jon has played in a variety of musical environments and styles: from Jazz and Blues to Rock and Regae, from the streets of Los Angeles and biker bars in Council Bluffs to concert stages in New York.

Most notable was time spent as a regular stand-in on guitar and bass with the very popular New York band known as The King Charles Band, headed by the late Charles Canon. The foundation of the band were veterins of the Motown scene and the Apollo Theater; guys who played with the likes of Little Richard, James Brown, and Wilson Pickett, to name a few. The other part of the band were guys who had studied at Burkley School of Music in Boston. Those guys had played with musicians from bands like Steely Dan and the Saturday Night Live Band.

This experience, among others, and a solid background on four instruments have laid the foundation for Jon's one man band. Jon himself arranges and performs all of the parts.
